Azeroth Survivors Mage build: Fireball & upgrade choices
Plan an Azeroth Survivors Mage build from Fireball. Understand the class themes, evaluate offered upgrades and record a fair next-run experiment.

Mage starting spell and build direction
Mage starts with Fireball in the checked original menu. The description highlights area damage while describing the class as fragile. Fire, frost and arcane are useful themes to investigate, but they are not a verified universal upgrade order.
Starting spell names here are standard English translations of the checked Chinese menu. Read the current game’s spell text if an update changes it.
Choose upgrades for the problem in front of you
An upgrade improves an existing spell
Compare its actual wording with adding another effect. Record whether the change helps against the crowd or target situation that is currently slowing your run.
You have damage but die when surrounded
Keep positioning in the experiment. Compare an offered defensive or control effect with more damage, without assuming every cold-themed ability provides a specific slow or freeze.
You find a dramatic Fire Mage recording
Check its game version, region, equipment and permanent progress. A late-region damage number is not a benchmark for a new Mage starting Elwynn.
A repeatable experiment for your next run
Record which offered card changed your Fireball or area damage, then note whether you could maintain space during the next difficult wave. Keep region and permanent progress in the same notebook entry.
- Class, region and difficulty.
- Permanent equipment and talents already available.
- Offered cards, your choices and any missing item.
- The situation that ended the run, or the objective you reached.
This selects a class in the notebook. It does not choose upgrades or change your game save; save or export your notes when you want to keep them.
Before copying another player’s build
Check the version, region, difficulty and permanent investment. A highly developed character can perform differently from a fresh one, even with similarly named spells.
Use the current card descriptions and keep a backup before moving to another browser or build. If a guide shows different controls or maps, check whether it describes the community reconstruction rather than the original.
Player recording: an earlier Fire Mage clear
Goerson’s original Fire Mage recording opens on v0.77.6: a Human Mage with Fireball and existing equipment and region progress. The Victory screen at 27:59 documents a Warsong Gulch clear and Arathi Basin unlock.
This is a historical example, not a claim that the same upgrade order wins on today’s build. Keep the victory result separate from the later continuation shown after that result.
Recorded Arcane Mage route: choose for the missing damage
In Holdherhand’s Naxxramas teaching recording, the player describes a developed character with 41 Arcane / 10 Frost points. This is a player’s route, not a fresh-character benchmark or our own gameplay test.
- 0:22 — Main damage and protection: Arcane Missiles and Arcane Explosion are the main upgrades; Ice Barrier supports survival.
- 1:07 — Jewellery choices: the player favours an Arcane Explosion necklace while retaining Arcane Missiles for single targets. Treat this as a preference tied to that character.
- 14:20 — Adapt to the problem: improve Missiles when single-target damage is lacking; improve Explosion when crowds are the problem.
- 24:28 — Missing item: despite investing in luck, the desired necklace did not appear. Do not treat luck as a guaranteed drop route.
These points summarize the player’s spoken explanation. The exact game build and complete clear were not independently established here; compare the current card text and your own permanent progress before copying it.
Common questions
Does this page establish Fire as the best Mage build?
No. The verified opening reference is Fireball. Comparing fire, frost and arcane setups requires current-version tests under comparable conditions.
Will this build be selected automatically in the game?
No. These are reference notes. You still choose the cards offered in the original game, and the notebook stores only your planning text.
